I haven't really been updating this as I should be, but here I go.
At the beginning of last semester, I quit the Boreman Bistro and at the end of the semester I received the same GPA as my first ever semester (a 3.4) and was completely annoyed.
I got A's in Italian, Media Writing, and VISJ, B's in Economics (which I thought I was going to fail) and Orientation to SOCA, and a C. A Freaking C. The FIRST C EVERRRRRR. In History for crying out loud. Between his shitty teaching and me working late nights, it was hard. But, I thought I did well enough, I mean, I even corrected the prof silently a few times as far as dates or important people go. I know the material, but my grade does not reflect that. I am very disappointed.
I still am at the Web Editor job at the Daily Athenaeum. Between August and January, I managed to publish eight articles of my own, seven of which will be linked to this page! I also applied to be Assistant News Director at U92, but I didn't get the job. Instead, they created a position I will perform much better, Digital News and Media Producer. I am the first one and so far, I am not doing a good job, BUT this is because of what happened...
So, it's a Saturday morning that my mom decides we should head back to WVU. The morning was spent packing and watching "The Ouija Experiment" with my brother Joe. Joe went upstairs and I was waiting and waiting and waiting. I went upstairs and my mom gave me my meds and I sat down to eat some hot dogs. I was annoyed that Joe didn't come back because I didn't even have enough time to finish the movie before we had to ship out. Then, I look in Joe's room to ask him what's up, you know, I paused it for you whatever, and he isn't there. I realize he's downstairs watching it without me AND I paid for it out of Redbox and I guess I was annoyed.
I hurriedly scrambled down the stairs thinking about if I should yell at him or just rewind it when I miss freaking step and all of my weight lands on my right ankle. I hear a "kkhwee" and lift both legs up to fall on my ass. I didn't have any thoughts. I just screamed. Screamed like I have never heard a scream. In my head, I was telling myself to shut up, but I couldn't control it. I just kept screaming. I thought it was broken. I've sprained my ankles, but it never felt like that before. And I never screamed like that before. I sit and cry like a little girl on the landing of the stairs while my brother loads the rental with my things. I finally hop up and my mom and brother help me hop to the car.
We go to Urgent Care and I am kidding about it by then. UNTIL, I am in the waiting room and I look down in the wheelchair and see a huge strip and it looks like something is poking out. I couldn't calm down. After waiting forever, as one usually does at any medical establishment, I finally got my x-rays done. The woman doing them points out the mass and says "This will be interesting to look at." That didn't help anything. After waiting another sentence of forever, the radiologist comes back and says she's pretty sure it's broken, but they're waiting for word from the head radiologist who isn't there. Shortly after, which is still relatively a long time when you're me and you think you have a broken bone and a new semester is going to start and how are you going to do everything you need to what is going to happen cry cry cry, she comes back and says that the head guy says it is an inflamed section of tissue and that it is not broken. They diagnose it as sprain, give me crutches, tell me to stay off of it for a week, and we leave.
We go to WVU directly after this annoyance to stay in a hotel. It was the most miserable weekend of my life. Everything I had to do was labored. I wanted to go to sleep and wake up next year. Monday, my mom had to leave me in my dorm and I really didn't want her to go. Being all alone, unable to do anything, missing the first week and a half of classes before I could walk again, I was miserable. It still hurts and I limp and I hate it, but at least it wasn't broke and at least I am off those damn crutches.
So far, I love my classes this semester. The first one I went to was Physical Anthropology and a few hours after that Archaeology of Ancient States. I have the same professor for both courses and she is pretty awesome. She starts each class of with a corny joke and she's very straightforward which is a quality I appreciate. The subject matter always makes me so giddy. I definitely chose the right path. I am also taking Media Ethics and Law which is very interesting, actually, so that's good because I didn't think I would like it. Italian is Italian is Italian, same prof as last semester and it's a good class, though my fellow students seem to think they can get away with a certain degree of disrespect that I find unbearable. I haven't actually been to Macroeconomics yet...I've been reading the book and keeping up with things. I'm still waiting for a copy of the notes from a student, but I will get my ass in gear!!!
My news shift is 3-6pm on Mondays. You can listen by going to u92.wvu.edu! I will be starting redesign of our news webpages pretty soon. As far as CR's goes, I m debating on whether or not to go to CPAC again and we're doing a movie night with the new Romney movie that's coming on Netflix. Pretty chill for now. I'm going to seriously attend my NSCS meetings this semester, too. We just do community service and things like that...I miss Campus Scouts so I think I am going to reboot the club in the fall! Should be pretty awesome. I want to start like a WVU Paranormal Society, but I'm not sure how to get started...
Anyway, this is pretty long, but I will link my articles ↓ and be on my way for now. Have a wonderful winter!
